History of Navi Mumbai Ob-Gyn Society

Once upon a time there was a time when a new City was planned and developed near Mumbai. As the population grew New and young doctors came and settled here to serve mothers in society. Those were the days when for any major health issue patients used go to Thane . Creek bridge was built and flux started flowing to Mumbai.

Navi Mumbai was growing so also number of gynaecologists grew. In the year 1996, an idea proposed over an informal discussion by a handful of like minded Obstetricians , seemed to click and take root. THE IDEA was to have an Association of OUR OWN here in Navi Mumbai and to have our clinical meetings here itself;

This led to the birth of Navi Mumbai Ob-Gyn Association in 1996. Dedicated members like Dr Pradeep Khopkar, Dr Pratibha Utage, Dr Uday Thanawala, Dr Vishnu Agarwal, Dr Surekha Mude were instrumental in nurturing and providing all sorts of supports to the Association

As time passed, the Association grew and a far sighted member felt the need to join hands and be merged with FOGSI. The credit of doing this goes to Dr Mandakini Parihar, who sadly is no longer between us.

In the year 2006, NMOGA matured into Navi Mumbai Ob-Gyn Society. This was the turning point and we have never looked back. Since 1993 we have been having an Annual Conference every year. Integral part of the Annual Conference were two important and prestigious orations became part of conference.

The objectives of Society

To promote fellowship amongst the members.

To support and protect the character, status and interest and promote the welfare of the Medical profession generally, and particularly of Member- Practitioners of Society of Obstetrics & Gynecology of Navi Mumbai.

To hold periodical meetings and conferences of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

To promote and encourage the study of medicine and in advancement of medical knowledge particularly in relation to Obstetrics, Gynecology ,Family Welfare and Biology of Reproduction and to create public opinion in the matter relating to Maternal and Child Health and Family Welfare.

To maintain efficient standard of teaching and practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Family Welfare and encourage research.

To promote medical and surgical subjects and particularly subjects relating to Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Family Welfare and Biology of Reproduction by lecture, discussion, publication and correspondence with government officials, public bodies and individuals otherwise.

To join other medical associations in safeguarding the interests of the medical profession in Mumbai and in India.

To purchase, take lease of or otherwise acquire, hold, manage, let, sell change, mortgage or otherwise dispose of moveable or immoveable properties of every description and all rights and privileges necessary or convenient for the purpose of the Society

And in particular buy land, Building, furniture, periodicals, instruments, fittings and appliances apparatus, conveyances and accommodation as and when deemed necessary or desirable in the interest of the Society and sell, let or hire out, mortgage, transfer or otherwise dispose of the same.

To erect, maintain, improve or alter and keep in repair any building for the purpose of the Society.

To borrow or raise money in such manner as the Society may think fit and to collect subscriptions and donations.

To invest any monies of the Society, not immediately required for any of the objects, in such manner as may from time to time determined by the Managing Council in accordance with relevant rules of the Government.

To assist, subscribe, co-operate or affiliate or be affiliated to or amalgamated with any other body whether incorporated registered or not and having objects altogether or in part similar to those of the society.

To create or assist in creating sub-branches within the area of the society for any of the purpose aforesaid.

To do such other things as are cognate to the objects of this society or are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above object.
